Are you out of school for the summer and want to read some exciting books just for fun? Want to read some of the classic books of literature but find it hard on the eyes? Well, we have just the thing for you:
ReadPlease 2002 is a software package based on MS-Windows, that you are free to download, install, and use to have the computer read to you! That's right, as long as your home computer has a speaker attached to it, you can hear entire books read to you at your leisure, even while you are busy doing other things. Here's how:
Download ReadPlease 2002
To download your free copy of the software:
- Click here,
- When prompted with the following prompt -
 Click once on image to enlarge.
click once on the Save button, and
- Navigate to the folder in which you want the file saved; for example: c:\ (remember this location for the next step).
Install ReadPlease 2002
- Use your mouse to open Windows' Explorer, by right-clicking on the Start button on your task bar located at the bottom of your screen,
- Select Explore
- Navigate to the folder in which you saved the file; for example: c:\,
- Locate the file RP2002.ZIP, and double-click it to open it,
- If you have, installed on your computer, a copy of uncompression tools such as WinZip, PKUNZIP, etc. and the file is recognized, the file will open revealing the installation files inside (see image below) -

[Note: If you do not have a copy of WinZip, click to go to the download page, download WinZip, and install it before proceeding.]
- Use your uncompression tool to uncompress the installation files to a folder of your choice; for example: c:\ (again, remember this location for the next step), and
- Navigate to the folder in which the installation files were uncompressed.
Use ReadPlease 2002
- Switch back to Windows' Explorer, (if you had closed it, repeat steps 1-3, in the section above) and navigate to the folder in which you uncompressed the installation files; for example: c:\,
- Locate the file ReadPlease.exe to start ReadPlease -

- To test out the software program, simply click once on the Play button,
- You should hear the text being read to you from the computer's speaker,
- To pause the reading, click once on the Pause button and to stop the reading, click once on the Stop button,
- To increase or decrease the speed of the reading, slide the Speed bar up or down or to change the voice of the reader click once on left-pointing arrow or right-pointing arrow, and
- To remove the text from the screen, right-click the screen and select Clear All, and
- To add your own text, type on the screen or cut-and-paste text from any other file, such as the books of literature located in the church's on-line document library!
