 BIOGRAPHY OF PASTOR JAMES A. VANISON, SR. |

Pastor James A. Vanison, Sr. was born on April 5, 1942 to the late Gladys and Joseph
Vanison of Washington D. C. and later moved to Stafford County Virginia, where at the
early age of six, he gave his life to Christ. Pastor Vanison started his education while
living in Stafford County. After his family moved to Fairfax County Virginia, he
continued his schooling and laer graduated from Luther Jackson High School. Later on in
life, he received a degree from Washington Bible College.
As a young man, Pastor Vanison met and married Ada Jackson of Vienna, Virginia. Out
of this union came three children, the late James A. Vanison, Jr., Vivian Ann Gravette,
and Tina Marie Vanison. As a servant unto the Lord, Pastor Vanison was ordained as a
Deacon, and later, as an Associate Minister under the leadership of the late Bishop Henry
Roberts at the Antioch Church of Christ of Alexandria, Virginia for nine years. Then he
joined Highview Park Christian Assembly of Arlington, Virginia, where Pastor served as an
Assistant Pastor for six years under the leadership of the late James A. Reid.
While attending Highview Park Church (now Highview Christian Fellowship), Pastor Vanison started to evangelized in the Vienna community
for three years. With a vision, in November 1979, Pastor Vanison and his family founded
Tree of Life Bible Church in Vienna, Virginia. In 1983 we purchased the church building
located at 13510 Lee Highway, Centreville, Virginia, which is now known as the Tree of Life
Christian Center. In 1996, the church purchased the church building located at 13924 Braddock Road
in Centreville, Virginia, where church services for Tree of Life Bible Church are currently held. Pastor
Vanison has pastored Tree of Life Bible Church for over twenty years now and his abiding
faith has been in God. Doing God's will and leading others to Christ has been the driving
force in his life, everyday.
