Church History
Our church was founded by Elder James A. Vanison, Sr. and family. The first meeting
of Tree of Life Bible Church was held on January 12, 1980 in the basement of Elder
James A. and Sister Ada Vanison at 2581 Five Oaks Road.
The first meeting opened with reading the scripture 1 Cor. 3:9-22. The subjects discussed were the
chartering of members, church doctrine, selecting officers, church tax ID number, and the decision
to have services at a school.
Services were held in Elder Vanison's home until April 6, 1980, at which time the church moved to
Timberlane Elementary School, located at 2737 West Street in Falls Church, Virginia. There the
church was formally dedicated by Elder William R. Vicks of the Righteous Church of God, on July
13, 1980.
The church moved from Timberlane Elementary School to Gordon Keller Music Hall, located at 111 Church Street,
NE in Vienna, Virginia until the Lord blessed the saints of the church to purchase its own church home at 13510 Lee Highway,
Centreville, Virginia on April 15, 1983.
Charter members comprised of members totaling eight adults and twelve children. They included, but were not limited to, Pastor James A. Vanison, Sr.,
his wife, Ada Vanison, and his family Vivian Vanison, Tina Vanison, and the late James Vanison,
Jr.
